Physical Education

Teaching and Learning

All children are entitled to a balanced programme of Physical Education. Physical Education is concerned with the principles behind good health and physical fitness, and with participating in a range of physical activities designed to satisfy the needs, abilities and interests of individual children
At Key Stage 3 pupils attend two Physical Education lessons where they study a wide range of activities.

Enrichment:

Throughout the academic year, the PE faculty offers a vast programme of extra-curricular activities. These include the more traditional games of rugby, football, cricket, netball, badminton and basketball to name a few. We also offer more non-traditional games such as dodgeball, OAA, softball and many more.

Representing the school in any sport is a fantastic honour for our pupils and a great opportunity to showcase their skills. As part of our enrichment programme, we enter teams in the School Games Competitions throughout the year. The calendar for this can be found here. Hamilton College PE ethos focuses on participation, attainment and enjoyment. We have lots of fun activities to take part in at lesson time, lunch time and after school. As well as the above activities, we also offer activities such as archery, climbing and OAA. Click here to read more
Within PE, we also like to reward students for their achievements throughout the academic year. We do this by offering trips to sports fixtures, providing a Health & Fun Week (includes inflatables, climbing wall and other activities), offering activities such as our Girls Health & Well-being Day and Sports Day.Have a look at what the PE department have been up to by clicking on this link to the PE Summer Newsletter.
