Teaching and Learning

Computing and ICT are taught to all pupils in Key Stage 3 and is an option at Key Stage 4; Technology forms the backbone of our society and a sound understanding of how things work and their social impact is key to building on our technological success.

Enrichment:

  • We offer additional learning support both in class, as provided by Child Centred Teaching Assistants and after school on a one to one basis. More able students are also encouraged to attend the after school sessions where extra and more challenging work can be discussed in a relaxed environment. Extra-curricular classes are run at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Informal study areas are provided at break and lunch times for students who wish to do extra work.

Staffing and Facilities:

  • The department consists of 4 full time and 1 part time specialist IT teacher with many years of experience at a variety of key stages. Click here for Staffing Structure 2016-2017.
  • The site has full Wi-Fi coverage allowing for a wide variety of technology to be used on the go. There are 5 fully equipped dedicated IT suites with the latest interactive whiteboards and digital projectors along with 7 banks of laptops which allow all areas of the school to access technology. Tablets and other types of devices are used widely across the school with our aim being to provide a stimulating and highly motivating environment within which the students can learn.
